Morrow Cater
President and Founding Principal
Morrow Cater is the President and Founding Principal of Cater Communications. She has more than 35 years of experience in communications, journalism and public policy. For over a decade, she produced nationally acclaimed award-winning films on important social and political issues for PBS Frontline and ABC News. She won an Emmy Award for Individual Achievement in Research, as well as the DuPont-Columbia Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism for “High Crimes and Misdemeanors,” a PBS Frontline 90 minute special with Bill Moyers on the Iran Contra scandal. Prior to that, she was a reporter at The National Journal magazine and The Anniston Star. In addition she worked on Capitol Hill, and in two congressional campaigns for Congressman Timothy E. Wirth. Cater is a recognized expert on climate and clean energy issues. She speaks regularly on the national stage, including at the 2013 TED conference, where she spoke about Bridging the Partisan Divide over Climate.
Throughout her career, Cater has focused on the critical role communications play in achieving social change. Since 1994, she has designed and implemented strategic initiatives and long-term projects for a wide range of clients from the public and private sectors. Cater holds an A.B. with honors in Political Theory and Religion from Harvard College. She lives with her husband, Peter Scheer and four children in San Rafael, California.
